webquests driving me crazy

Is it just me?  I am totally frustrated about the webquest topics.  I go to the examples and say oh that is terrific.  That looks like a nice, fun project for the kids to do, then I go to another and say wow that's very creative.  Then I sit and stare at the computer hoping that something hits me that will be as creative as the examples provided.  I am not teaching right now, and I think that if i were teaching, i might be able to come up with something in my current lesson plans that would be applicable.  I know Doc said we could use one of the ones from the examples, but I'm not sure what that means without being plagiaristic.
I do like the idea of the webquest.  It seems like something that the kids would really get into and offers a different avenue for teaching and learning.  It is also something that can be used at all levels of education and would hold a students interest-way more than reading out of a book and answering questions.
My quest for the perfect quest continues!

  1. Hi Eric!

Starting can be the toughest thing...

Which WebQuests have you found interesting? Wat topic would you like to teach? What objectives would you like to meet? These questions can help you in the quest for your WeBQuest idea. :)

In terms of using other WebQuests, make sure to cite the ones you use in your Credits section.

    Thanks for posting!

  2. This is exactly how I felt when I first looked at the WebQuest - it took me hours to become familiar with the tools and the flow from task to process, etc. I looked at the WebQuests that are already published and looked at how they were done. I teach 8th graders math and we are doing a module on interest/commission - so I wanted to do a lesson reflecting the curriculum. I searched around and found a WebQuest on Budgets and "borrowed" the idea. Dr. Luongo says as long as we cite the source it is fine to do it. I was reluctant to do this at first but as I continued I realized that her objective for this lesson is for us to learn how to use the WebQuest and the flow and content of the lesson is secondary to us mastering WebQuest as a tool. I am obsessed with mastering this tool - I actually wake up thinking about it! - strange right? This is a wonderful and valuable tool that Dr. Luongo has introduced to us and she really is very available to answer questions! Good Luck and have fun.

  3. I completely understand! When you first log in to begin a webquest it can be confusing and over-whelming. When I first logged in I didn't know where to look first, but after "playing" around with the site I began to feel more comfortable and I am sure you have done this too.

i have the same situation, i do not teach yet. i am still working on my undergraduate degree and i am not even familiar with any methods of teaching or subects, so I have been struggling with topics and wondering: " how am I going to get this done?!?!?!" Try searching different subjects online along with a specific grade and you'll find a lot of worksheets and topics you can draw from...good luck!
